Port Blair, Sept. 22: Sudha Sundararaman, CPI (M) Central Committee Member and National Vice President of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) is reaching Port Blair from mainland on 23rd September 2023 for a two-day visit to these Islands. 

Port Blair, Sept. 22: After a month long Coaching Camp, the A&N Football team consisting of 22 players squad with 01 Manager, 01 Head Coach and 01 Physiotherapists today left for U-14, Sub-Junior Boy's National Football Championship 2023-24 to be held at Ananthapuram, Andhra Pradesh from 26th September to 2nd October 2023. The Championship is being organised by All India Football Federation.

Diglipur, Sept. 21: In a proactive move towards empowering the young women of the North & Middle Andaman district, District Police has launched "SWARAKSHA," a self-defence training initiative. This 10-day program is tailored to equip school and college girls with essential skills to ensure their safety and boost their self-confidence. "SWARAKSHA" initiative commenced on the 18th of September where three schools i.e. Senior Secondary School Rangat, Senior Secondary School Bakultala and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Panchwati, Rangat will be covered in first phase.

Port Blair, Sept. 21: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to replace the deteriorating TV Kulam Bridge in Swadesh Nagar on priority.

The TV Kulam Bridge was recently closed for all regular traffic and pedestrian use due to extensive corrosion and safety concerns raised by experts from IIT Guwahati.

Port Blair, Sept. 21: The A&N Traffic Police has made significant strides in enhancing road safety, enforcing traffic rules, and engaging with the community across the Port Blair city.

This year, A&N Traffic Police has conducted 39 awareness classes in schools/colleges and other Govt. Institutes and engaging approximately 6000-7000 participants, which includes commercial vehicle drivers. These initiatives have successfully instilled a sense of responsibility and awareness within the community. Additionally, conducting similar classes at the Children Traffic Park, aimed at nurturing responsible future road users.
